Bad bad Bad. i have never been to such a bad restaurant. We went there today for Sunday brunch. Food was v stale. There was some kind of smell in chicken. There was only one server in the whole restaurant. But there were not that many table full either. Just 2 including us. Buffet was for $11.95 but oh man quality of food was so poor. And not that many variety. Never going back there. People who r praising this restaurant in other reviews must be the iowners or their friends. Stay away!!!

I've been to a few Indian restaurants (Deeya, Laziz, Taste of Punjab) and out of the all of them I've enjoyed Bawarchi the most. The food taste fresh and has always been very delicious. The appetizers from samosas to paneer have been warm and scrumptious. Naan is always hot and fresh. Dishes like goat curry and chicken tikka masala were spot on in flavor. The deserts such as kheer were great as well but the gulab jamun was a bit lacking. Service was attentive and friendly. My only knock on this place is that it is pricey. Overall, I've been making the trek out here regularly because I have yet to find a better Indian restaurant that suits my palate.

Discovered this wonderful restaurant when in town for the Outback Bowl. Although there aren't yet many Indian restaurants in the area, this one is both worth the drive from Tampa, and would compare favorably with what's found in Chicago on Devon Avenue, and better than the Indian restaurants we have in Milwaukee. The entrees are a bit pricey, but generous and very tasty, plus, they don't charge extra for rice. If you get one entree per person and share South Asian style, it will work out. I suggest the Dal Fry, the poori, samosa, tandoori mix platter, fish curry. Service is excellent, the decor is rather pretty with some antique Indian musical instruments and Diwali lamps.

Dinner was quiet, I don't think many people know about this restaurant. Food is authentic and the best Indian food in Pinellas county. Atmosphere and service is somewhat lacking.

Definitely authentic Indian food. the servers are extremely friendly and remember me even though my visits are sometimes months apart. You can get 2 entrees and it'll be enough for three normal appetites. Even though the Tuesday night buffet is all vegetarian, it still offers at least 8 choices plus little extras like salads and dessert, but you'll pay close to $15 depending on tip/drink. The atmosphere is my favorite of all the restaurants I frequent, quiet and dimly lit. I first went there with a friend of mine who had dated an Indian girl for years, and this was one of her and her family's favorite restaurants.

This place is really good. It is also really Vegetarian friendly (being Indian cuisine, it isn't surprising, I know). But they have a Tuesday Veggie lunch buffet which is very reasonably priced. Their mango shakes are yummy! I also like their cheese nan bread. The wait staff is very courteous and will warn you about very spicy dishes (which is good, because I get the heartburn). It is expensive, but you get a lot of food.

My husband and I are new to the area and were craving Indian food. Bawarchi totally hit the spot! We ordered dinner to-go and had an absolutely delicious meal. Dishes were perfectly spicy, nothing was oily and while we ordered enough for leftovers, we couldn't stop eating! The Chicken Tikka and Bengan Barta were perfect. And the keema naan (which many restaurants don't have) was great. Very nice to have a tasty, local Indian restaurant!

We used to visit a couple of times a month for the Tuesday night vegetarian buffet. The past 3-4 times we went, the buffet was half empty and was never refilled. We also had to flag our server down every time we needed drink refills. Love the food there, but will not revisit due to poor service. If they are under new management, I'd suggest they step it up so they don't lose anymore customers.

One thing that may set Bawachi apart from other Indian restaurants and bumped it's eating up to 4 stars is the larger size portions you get. Their garlic naan bread is yummy but would say their other breads are just okay.

Unfortunately my friends this place is going down fast! It used to be one of the premier Indian restaurants in Pinellas county but they changed owners and the service is her Renda's and the food is certainly lacking. Do yourself a favor and either skip this place or lower your expectations

Honestly, we used to come here so often and for years we've been going. I read apparently they've changed ownership or something but it really shows. The food used to be amazing but now it's crazy. The waiters are completely disconnected from the customers. Not sure what happened, but I'm sad that it did.

I am sorry, but this Indian Buffet was just not good. I may be a snob as I have eaten at various indian restaurants across the world, but I would avoid the Buffet. Perhaps off the menu would be better.

Ordered the Chicken Vindaloo (medium spice) and Garlic Naan. Nicely hot, very good flavor. Excellent service. Will try the buffet next time!

Went for the the lunch buffet today for the 1st time. They had a decent selection of vegetarian and chicken dishes. Some were really good...others okay. The rice and naan were also pretty good. But you got all of it for $9.99. Definitely worth it.

A-OK lunch buffet sometimes. The service is awesome The food is inconsistent. Sometimes its really good and deserves a higher rating Other times it's greasy, gross and I wonder why I come here.

I absolutely love this place for lunch buffet and dinner ! Medium spicy is just right!

I have been to both the lunch buffet and the vegetarian dinner buffet and ordered off the menu. We call this desperation Indian food. When we crave Indian and don't want to drive an hour we cave and go here. The quality and portion sizesvare good, but it is so BLAND. Food does need to just be hotter but actually spiced, when you enter an Indian Restaurant there should be a pleasant aroma of card omen, cloves etc. But alas, Orlando seems the closest good Indian food.

The buffet was a delight. Veggies galore. Just the right amount of great food for me and the Naan was abundant. Dessert of rice pudding finished our meal all nicely. Can't wait for a return trip.

Bawarchi Indian Cuisine in Palm Harbor, Florida I was happy to discover that there is an Indian restaurant very close to where I live in Palm Harbor, Florida. The first time I had Indian food was on my last trip to New Jersey. We started with a appetizer of lentil cracker with pepper chutney that was a little spicy and the cracker very thin and crunchy. I loved the bhaji, deep-fried onion pancake, fried and delicious. Then this puffy bread called Poori came out and it was outrageous - it's oily and deep fried bread. We also tried samosa a deep fried batter filled with peas and potatoes and yummy. We had two curry entrees, Makhani - shrimp in curry sauce, and Korma - lamb in curry sauce. Both were a little spicy and we wrapped them in the nan bread that made a great dinner! We finished with some Indian rice pudding - very creamy and good! I thoroughly enjoyed this Indian dinner and will go back to try more new entrees.

I have been looking forward to trying the lunch buffet for quite some time. Finally, got a chance and was mildly disappointed. The selection was limited on the buffet. A large portion was a spread of salad vegetables, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, tomato. The actual Indian food was ok. I was really disappointed they didn't have any samosas. My kids ordered the garlic naan off the menu and really enjoyed it. My craving was satisified, but I think I'll try another place next time.

it was good not great. would get an extra star for better selection, maybe im just a noob to Indian Buffets but there wasnt much. i had some things that were good and some that were just Meh. the desert rice could have been better. id say 70% of their dishes could use more punch. maybe they are just playing it safe for the snowbirds......

I've officially broken up with Bawarchi. 2 stinker lunch buffets and I'm out. It was fun while it lasted! The server that is always working is SO NICE and does a GREAT JOB - I hope they appreciate him!

Went for the lunch buffet on Thursday. ..Have been there several times. The butter chicken is delicious. .Would have given 5 stars but had to wait until the end of the meal for the naan. ...Also need to have bigger and more napkins on tables. ..

Affordable with a very serviceable buffet that caters to vegetarian and meat eaters alike, this is a nice little spot with pretty good Indian food at reasonable prices. Not much else to it. While it is very good food for restaurants in this area, if you're visiting from a place with good restaurants, this is 3 star Indian.

  • Ben D.

Had the urge to introduce someone to Indian cuisine. We ended up at Bawarchi and although it wasn't anything special, neither was it offensive. They sell serviceable Indian food at reasonable prices. The decor is warm and inviting, and the service was all smiles. They were quite happy to field questions from a very curious Indian-food novice as well. The sampler plate with onion bhaji, samosas and veggie pakora was an easy pleaser. The entree course featured lamb vindaloo, chicken madras and a mixed protein biryani, as well as garlic naan. The curries were decent, but the biryani was the highlight. Not entirely sure how everything gets cooked together and done perfectly, but that's what happens here. The naan as well was exactly what you want from naan: crisp and flaky outside, tender and airy inside. All in all an enjoyable dinner. Note that they have a lunch buffet as well, and that may change your experience. If you are in Tampa Bay and don't want to drive to St. Petersburg or Tampa proper for better options, Bawarchi will serve your Indian food desires amicably.

Hands down best Indian food in the area. You cant find better service anywhere else. Bit pricey but worth every penny. It used to be spicy but the "non-traditional" older women complainers whined about the heat. ITS INDIAN FOOD, not Chinese! Heat is supposed to be there! Thats like complaining about cheese on a cheeseburger.

When our Tampa-based friends found out we like Indian food--they immediately brought us to Bawarchi. I ordered what I usually order Mutter paneer and garlic naan but was nearly tempted by other delicious offerings on the menu like the raisin and nut stuffed naan and the tandoori fish. We were certainly not disappointed. Everything was delectable, well-priced and just spicy enough. Our friends say whenever someone tells them about a new place they just smile and nod. I can't say I blame them.

Of the 4 Indian places I've tried in Pinellas county, Bawarchi is middle of the road. I ordered carry out, so I cannot speak for their service aside from the pleasant gentleman that took my order over the phone and handled my transaction. The lamb biryani was delicious and they handled my mild to medium heat request well. I saved half for the following day, which is when I realized there was barely any lamb in it. The chicken tika masala was very good with an abundant amount of sauce, but it was seriously lacking in chicken. Both the garlic and regular naan were good, but would have been better in the restaurant. All in all, I may eat here again, mostly because it's only minutes from my house.

We went on a Tuesday night for the vegetarian dinner buffet. It's nice to have more than one or two options to pick from. It was fairly empty, but it was a Tuesday night, and maybe the vegetarian night isn't popular. The host greeted us right away and let us choose a table. I was happy to see samosas on the buffet, and they were really good. There were 4 main dishes including Palak Paneer, one other paneer dish with green beans, a lentil dal, and another that I can't recall, or spell. Overall a good variety, with jasmine rice and naan bread as well. I'd say the food was above average, and I certainly enjoyed it. However, it wasn't as spicy as I would like, and I suspect at least some of the vegetables were frozen. I really enjoyed all the chutneys and sauces on the side including the onion chutney, cucumber raita, hot pickle, and tamarind sauce. I was certainly full when I left. We were just getting the buffet and water, but the server kept our water glasses filled and took our dirty plates promptly. Nice job in the service department. The dinner buffet is $11.95 which isn't bad. Where else can you get a full dinner for $12? I'll go back when I'm in the mood for Indian food again.

Lunch buffet is very good. Tuesday night is vegetarian buffet, also very good. I have eaten dinner here several times, while it is more expensive than the buffet (obviously) it is excellent. Naan is always hot and fresh with a great consistency. Staff is very friendly and the place is reasonably priced, especially for indian food in this area.

Best Indian we could find after moving from DC. Get takeout here about once a month. Friendly staff who remembers you.

Not my favorite place for a Lunch buffet (not because I don't like Indian food) Ordering off the menu has been much better in my experience. Prices were better than most of their competition but it seems none of the Indian restaurants in this area are a value proposition if you are having dinner. Will be back for dinner no doubt (it's so close to work) but might make the longer drive for lunch though another Curry House Critic informed me last week the buffet was great.

I have visited bawarchi on a few occasions for both lunch and dinner. The buffet is ok, but the only thing I really liked on it was the butter chicken. Samosas and naan were both hot, fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, I just don't like enough of the items on the buffet to get my money's worth, but for those who like all Indian food items, it's a great choice. The price is a bit high perhaps because they are one of the few Indian places in the area as others have said, but I still give them a thumbs up and will be back again when the craving for Indian food strikes.

Bawarchi is one of the only Indian Restaurants in the area. While their entrée prices can be really high $11.95-16.95, their appetizer, breads, drinks, and sides are quite reasonable. Therefore, if you order a little of each, it will balance out to an average priced meal. We arrived around 6:00pm on a Saturday night and seats were quickly filling up after we arrived. The dining area is actually quite small, but very clean and welcoming. As soon as you are seated, you are given free Papadum with red onion relish. The Vegetable Samosa ($3.50) are two large filled pastries with spiced peas and potato and come with green cilantro chutney (spicy). They were quite delicious and filling for their price. I had Mango Lassi ($3.00), which was sour just the way I like it, and a large glass too. The Mango Shake ($3.00) is a milder version with just milk instead of yogurt. All of the dishes come with ulimited buttered rice, which is cooked to perfection and also reheats well. The Naan ($2.25) and Garlic Nann ($2.95) were both crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside, perfect! The Aloo Gobi ($10.95) was a dry cooked dish of potato and cauliflower with seeds sprinkled on top and no sauce. While it was flavorful, I will not be ordering it again. The Channa Masala ($10.95) was delicious chickpeas and had more of a tomato gravy rather than the usual cream sauce that I am used to with Masala. I would call it more of an Aloo Chole than a masala sauce. It also made some great leftovers. The Baigan Bhartha ($10.95) is roasted eggplant with spices, which ends up being more a puree to dip bread into. It is also great to eat with chips or crackers. Bawarchi's had more of a cinnamon taste to it than I am used to, but it was still delicious. The highlight of my meal was the Novrattan Korma ($12.95), mixed vegetables covered in a sweet cream sauce with raisins and cashews. It was so good! Definitely a must order next time. On my next visit, I will be ordering the Bhindi Masala ($11.95) because of my love of okra. I was too full to order the Kheer ($3.00) rice pudding, but hopefully next time I will be able to. This is as good as it gets for Indian on US19!

One of the only Indian restaurants north of Clearwater... Bawarchi has an excellent lunch buffet during the week - with 3-4 vegetarian entrees, in addition to meat dishes. Also, they have all-vegetarian buffet on Tuesday nights. Their food is delicious. The service is fine - though I've never ordered of the menu, only buffet. It 's never been crowded when I've been there - I frequent once a month. The price is a bit high - I'm used to the cheap Indian buffets in Philly - and the dining room and bathrooms are a little run-down.

The reason I've rated Barwarchi as low as I did is because it is based on one experience at lunchtime. I tried their buffet which is about $1.00 less than the others I've tried, but it's only about HALF as good. The food all tasted bland which, for Indian food, is a cardinal sin. NOTHING stood out at all! Perhaps it was an off day, but I was VERY disappointed, especially having eaten at a number of other Indian restaurants. When I mentioned this to the owner of a different Indian Restaurant, he defended Barwarchi by saying their food is from a different region of India than theirs. And that, supposedly, explained why the food wasn't as flavorful. Perhaps. I should also go back and check their dinner as a number of the reviews here for their dinners are very good. I just had high hopes for their buffet and was quite disappointed.

Alright, guys. This place is getting a lot more fanfare that I think it should. I have been to MANY Indian restaurants and while Bawarchi is one of the very few Indian restaurants in the area (which is probably why they can charge so much), it is OK. There is really nothing special about the place. Location: It's actually located in this large plaza that has the potential to become a trendy spot if people in Palm Harbor actually walked around. Most of the time, the area is pretty desolate. Food: Indian food is supposed to have the most variety in vegetarian food so it is a shame that Bawarchi uses very similar tasting sauces in their vegetarian dishes. I mean they put paneer and some red food coloring in the vegetable makhanwala and call it paneer tikka masala. WTF. Portions are okay, not too small and not a lot. Anywho, again I guess I should be LUCKY that there is a half-way decent Indian restaurant at all in Palm Harbor.

Francisco was an attentive & friendly waiter. My boyfriend and & I were greated & seated immediately. From the soup to appetizers to entrees, all were served promptly. The food had a great blend of spices, curry, and was served to perfection. Great prices, service, and quality. Highly recommended.

The service is great, always friendly. We have visited on a few different occasions, most recently for the Tuesday night vegetarian buffet. It was awesome. I'm not sure if the items offered change or not, but I can't wait to go back and give it a try. There was naan, samosas, 4-5 different entrees, rice, along with a little salad available. It was great to get to try different things from what I would usually order.

According the the previous reviewers, this is the only Indian restaurant in the area. This would seem to open the door of opportunity to a savvy entrepreneur. I stumbled in for lunch today. Offered was the obligatory lunch buffet. The problem is that this buffet had the smallest assortment of foods I have ever encountered. There were four vegetables, and two meats. All six items were good. None of them were better than good. The decor, ambiance, and service were all just adequate. Considering the shopping center it is located in, I was hoping for, and expected more.
